Apostle Highlands Golf Course is a par 72, 18-hole championship golf course in Bayfield, Wisconsin with enormous greens and stunning panoramic views of Lake Superior. Our public golf course features 3 sets of tees which makes our course playable for all players.
You don't have to be a big hitter to score well, but being straight off the tee will be important in keeping the ball in play. Many of the holes are tree-lined with trouble behind most of the greens if your approach shot is long.
The length of the course is 6,332 yards from the back tees, 5,887 from the middle tees, and 5,127 from the forward tee boxes. Water comes into play on 8 holes. Both the fairways and greens are heavily contoured, which results in some uphill and side hill lies in the fairway.
Lake Superior can be seen on 13 holes of this magnificent course. The full-service clubhouse is climate controlled and lets you enjoy views of the big Lake or, if the temperature is right, you can enjoy the scenic views from the clubhouse deck or out on our patio overlooking the 9th green.
Hole 1 Par 5
Hole 2 Par
Hole 3 Par 4
Tee shots longer than 240 yards will result in a downhill lie to a green that slants front to back. On the right side, a dry creek bed runs the length of the fairway and around the back of the green.
Hole 4 Par 3
Hole 5 Par 4
Keep drive in the center to right side of the fairway, drives on left side can roll in the woods. There is trouble behind the green, sometimes a short second shot may roll onto the green.
Hole 6 Par 4
Very narrow fairway with woods lining left side. Hit to the 150 marker to have a downhill short iron to a narrow, deep green. Second shots hit right or short funnel towards the green.
Hole 7 Par 5
Woods down the left side with a pond that claims drives that leak right. Longer hitters may fly the pond if the wind is right. Take an extra club on shots to an uphill green that slopes from back to front.
Hole 8 Par 3
Hole 9 Par 4
Hole 10 Par 4
The character of Apostle Highlands changes from this hole forward. A tough hole to start the back-nine. The green slope front to back with a hog's back in the middle.
Hole 11 Par 3
Gull is a very straightforward par 3. The green is shallow. One of the flattest putting surfaces on the course, but pay attention to the subtle breaks.
Hole 12 Par 5
Hole 13 Par 4
Hole 14 Par 4
Take more club off the tee to guarantee a level lie. The wind typically moves the ball left to right as well as the slope. The green is surrounded by a hazard, so be accurate.
Hole 15 Par 4
Although, this hole is entirely uphill, it is your best opportunity to hit the fairway and make a good score. Your approach will be important. The green is small and two-tiered.
Hole 16 Par 5
Hole 17 Par 3
Hole 18 Par 4
